Become an agent of positive change by gaining tools to design a new society!
Gaia Education Ecovillage Design Education programs, (EDEs), provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills to design a society that uses energy and materials with greater efficiency, distributes wealth fairly and strives to eliminate the concept of waste and wide inequality. In those new human scale communities, citizens collectively create a high-quality lifestyle with a low ecological footprint.
These immersive Face-to-Face programs are known to have transformed lives. Previous participants have become agents of positive culture change in their communities and sectors of regional economies; they’ve co-created social enterprises and cooperatives, started community projects, and they, themselves, have become trainers for sustainability.
By joining the course, you will be able to put into action new skills and knowledge in any field or sector you are involved in. You can become a change agent or a sustainability designer! Do this by taking an active role in transitioning your existing community, institution and neighbourhood towards a more sustainable pattern of production and consumption, as well as leading more joyful, meaningful and healthier lives!
EDE programs are based on the four core dimensions of Gaia Education’s Ecovillage Design Curriculum: the Social, Worldview, Ecological and Economic dimensions of sustainability.

La Cité Écologique has offered the first EDE of Canada in the summer of 2015. At the moment we offered this program only in French, but this year we are offering you an unique chance to join us with an English teacher! We are designing the first dimension (social) so French and English speaking participants can join and cooperatively design social change.
Why start with the social week? Within the fourth aspect of this design, the social one is the most important as it is the most dynamic dimension. We need clear social constructs and communications in community living to co-create any project and have healthy living environments! During our journey of social sustainability we will be given the tools and asked to explore our relationship to others, study our ability to communicate our dream, learn where our edges are while learning how to set personal boundaries, take action in building new relations and learn how to constructively move past conflict. We will also be visiting dynamic decision making and group agreements that can be the utilized as the baseline of your ideal community or organization. Overall, the social week will encourage your pathway of community stewardship forwards from where ever you are now; opening up to others, to yourself and to the possibility to start living your dream.
